The MVS-CF mobile vehicle DVR has no moving parts making it our number 1 school bus video system choice for reliable, and dependable mobile vehicle surveillance on the market today.
When it comes to tough, durable and long lasting data storage, it is hard to beat the 100% Solid State digital storage of the CF card based "Extreme Series" school bus video systems, uniquely suited for mobile vehicle surveillance. CF cards can withstand 50Gs of shock during operation, without damage, while a standard hard drive can only handle a couple Gs during operation before they crash.
CF cards can be frozen solid, slammed with 50 Gs of shock, and have no moving parts to wear out so for the first time a school bus digital camera system can be expected to outlive the bus .
CF card are far superior to the hard drive in virtually every area relating to bus cameras, except price and capacity, but now with the release of the 32GB CF card at a very reasonable price, it seems the hard drives days are numbered in on bus cameras.

Please note,
These cameras are much smaller than the STC camera that are sold with our mobile video systems, but there are some differences that need to be understood:
- These mini/micro cameras have no microphone and do not record audio. To get audio when using these cameras
it is necessary to have an external microphone, available at additional cost.
- These cameras have a small number of IR LEDs (2-9) so they will not illuminate as far a distance in the dark as the
STC camera with 30 IR LEDs.
- Most of these cameras have no mounting system, as they are inserted into small holes., so it is up to the installer
to drill a hole for them and secure them in place.
- These mini cameras are much smaller than the STC camera usually sold with this system, but they are not invisible.
The surface diameter of the different camera lenses is: 25mm-43mm.
- In a dark vehicle they may be very hard to see but in the daytime, they will be visible and criminals will find them if they
are looking for cameras. So they need to be mounted in locations that make them more difficult to locate. Place them
in dark corners, or on the extreme left or right of the windshield, so in daytime the bright light shining into the vehicle
will make them harder to see.
- Mini cameras do not provide a deterrent because most passengers will not see them or will not recognize them as a
camera. If you are looking to provide a deterrent then you might be better served by using the standard STC or Police
(PD) camera as they are easy to see and everyone in the vehicle will quickly see them and know they are being
- recorded.
- When using a mini camera, Do Not use the large warning decal sticker that advises the passengers they are being
recorded. This will only alert them that they may have a camera in the vehicle and cause them to start looking for them
- Mini cameras do not have the image resolution, or light attracting qualities of the STC camera. When you shrink the
cameras lens assembly and circuitry you sacrifice image quality for size. If you want the best images the STC camera
will provide better quality, but if you want a smaller camera that is harder to see the mini cameras are a better choice.

The Primary Problems of Police GPS Location & Distress Devices:
- The problem with many competing tracking or VLS (Vehicle Location Systems) is that they are tied
to the video system or 2-way radio system. Those designing, developing and manufacturing these
products are often working in a vacuum that overlooks the basic operating parameters and actual application
for their intended purposes.
- The first likely casualty of a patrol car hijacking or assault, would likely be the method the officer has at hand to
communicate for help, so there goes the 2-way radio communication and the ability of any GPS location, speed and
heading information that might have been provided through the 2-way radio medium.
- The second likely casualty will be the patrol car video camera system and DVR as it is unlikely any perpetuating a bold
and blatant violation of law would also not wish to be document doing so by possible live broadcast to the law
enforcement community via wireless transmission. So there goes the video system, built in wireless communication
and the ability of any GPS patrol car location, speed and heading information that might have been provided through
the video system medium.
- When taking measures to protect against the worst case scenario of a patrol car hijacking, it would be wise to select a
covert, stand alone system that is independent of the 2 most obvious means to transmit GPS location or communicate
with the authorities.
The Primary Solutions For In Car Police GPS Location & Distress Devices:
- Covert systems are the most likely to be functional after those looking to disable such devices have made their
search. Knowledge is power and should be provided on a need to know basis. Meaning the best system to track
vehicles is with a system that few even know exists! What they cannot see, and do not know, can often go undetected
and provide invaluable information to the law enforcement personnel in charge of dealing with the situation in order to
preserve the safety of those possible victims and fellow officers.
- Independent stand alone systems that are not tied to patrol car video systems, nor the 2-way radio communication
system, so that the information it can provide, can survive the most predictable efforts to disable or cut off the officers
ability to communicate using the patrol cars 2-way radio or the police video camera system that could have the ability
to wireless stream data to police headquarters.
